April 1: Since I was small the story always fascinated me. The story of Titanic. The best of the time with the best of their time vanishing in a heartbeat. It has so much to say about society, wealth, hubris, courage and the frailty of it all.
If you want to check your ego at the door each day just think Titanic.
Then I read the short story by Morgan Robertson called Futility which was written in 1898 about a ship..the greatest of its time with high society on board…that vanished. In April , in the North Atlantic, it hit an iceberg, and without enough lifeboats on it it went down taking most of the passengers with it. It was also called indestructible. And the name of the ship was … the Titan.
Futility indeed.
Hubris will do that.
You are here and then not. So while here be kind, be gentle,be caring.
All the wealth, all the…fill in the blank…vanishes.
So now-here-be wise and appreciate the moment you were given.
Live gratefully.
No matter how big, strong, clever you think you may be, life waits, the cycle waits, nature waits…patiently.
For some reason thinking about Titanic/Titan brings me a peaceful feeling. You let go of stuff and live in a present state of grace.
