But what does any of it mean. That was the question presented. What does any of it mean. Is there any meaning to it. The plots, the scheming, the misdirections, the hush whispers, the taking advantage of, the having to be right, the…you name it..and then with a mere shrug, the earth has a quake and the nonsense is revealed for what it is…nonsense.
With a yawn the earth shakes and what was there is gone. There and then gone.
The earth establishes herself as that which can not be ignored. She establishes herself ,as if we had to learn anew, the total presence and power that is simply her.
We argue about the earth as if our arguments had any influence over her or caused her to pause before she decides to move. Hubris on our part indeed.
Maybe that is why some of us are drawn to the mountains, the beaches and the forests We simply want to be part of her. Not try to control, reshape or redirect her…as if we even could…but just ,for a brief moment in time, be one with her.
Escaping to nature is like coming home. Walking the beach in the early morning hours is like being a part of the morning exercises of the earth herself. The birds circling, the tide moving in and out..like the water is breathing, the sand shifts, the shells lay scattered on the shore and you are merely present. No different that any other image you watch.
Whether a shell or the sand or the birds or the tide or you, it is all the same to her.
It is part of the ageless experiment to appreciate that simplicity and power. Being present does not require fanfare. It just requires being.
