Being present in your life

January 13, 2010: The Relevance factor:
I have often heard the story of people who could not wait to retire..to stop the stress of the day…and plan days of recreation( whether the golf community or some other activity), who shortly thereafter deteriorate quickly, lose their edge, or die just a few years after the “joyous” retirement celebration.
What happens.
I believe there is a relevance factor. A meaningful full day of a person’s measure. The need for a productive…contributing…full life.
This does not mean being stuck or in a holding pattern where you are but rather it means staying relevant to life.
Choosing relevance.
Whether charity work, volunteer work, back to school choice, learning a new skill, helping people, teaching, continuing to grow by sharing. It comes down to staying in the mix of the day. Realize that dreams, visions, passions have no expiration date stamped on them. Adventure is not age sensitive.
Reject the limits of the age police. In fact , I submit, that the older we get the fewer limits there should be. We have freedom to be and do…in reality, to risk more .
By choosing relevance we choose to stay visible.
