All she said was that it was good seeing me this morning. She had this big smile on her face. She said she just looked forward to me coming in to get the morning coffee. I smiled and thanked her for her kindness. That’s all. But it got me thinking about the simple kindnesses that can make all the difference in the day.
So often these days everyone is so busy doing something or pretending to do something that they miss the very purpose of what this is all about. It puzzles me. It takes so little to make someone else’s load lighter yet it seems like the exception to the rule.
How about today being the kindness in the day. Carrying the load for someone else just for a block or two. How about today just being the exception to the rule. Look up and see the need of another and respond with some gentle kindness.
I told her that I hoped she had a joyful day. A joyful day. What a concept.
The ageless experiment
