It made no sense to me. I saw them arguing about something. I didn’t know them but they were arguing loud and in a public place. They each so much wanted to prove their point. It reminded me of some school yard kids squabbling in a sandbox over some plastic shovel.
I walked by and kind of shrugged. They both looked up and then kept at it as if the world safety hung in the balance. What a waste was the only thought that raced through my mind. In the end the endgame is the endgame. Yet two people were going at it. You ever wonder why. In the grand scheme of it all it doesn’t even register a blip on the radar screen of life.
So I have to believe we are just smarter than that. I think a shrug sometimes is just the best answer to so much of what passes for debate these days. Next time someone wants to engage you in the nonsense of their nonsense, let it go ,shrug and stay balanced. I think shrugs are underrated. They speak volumes. Maybe it will stop people in mid sentence of argument long enough to permit them to regain their balance too.
The ageless experiment.
