Today. It seems to get a bad rap. We so often talk about what happened yesterday. We let it linger with us. Fret over it. Let yesterday live on when we need to let it go. We dream about tomorrow. Yet, it is today that is real. It is this moment, this day, that calls out for our attention and respect. When do we wake up to today?
Today, I met with two friends. One new and one I have a history with me. Yet each get together had one thing in common. We were present in the present. Have you ever noticed when you are present in the present that colors are brighter, sounds are clearer, laughter is stronger, smiles are broader, and life seems richer.
But it only happens if you are awake in the now. Today, ideas were shared. Lessons learned. Courage uncovered. Fear set aside. And the day was respected. In fact, each minute in the day was filled with friendship.
So today, think about it. Don’t toss it aside for some romantic notion about yesterday or tomorrow. Find the joy in the very moment of the time you are actually living in.
That is the challenge of the ageless experiment.
