Motorcycles, the wave, the nod, the acknowledgement are so intertwined that you would think it was a requirement.
The motorcycles pass each other..total strangers..yet the acknowledgement takes place. Why?
Why not cars? Or folks just passing each other on the street?
In cars it is a rarity. Sometimes it happens when you let a car cut in in traffic and the "thank you" wave might occur. Might..
On the street it may be considered even odd or strange to say "hi". It may even be considered too forward in some circles. At an earlier time and place that was not so, but today is different.
But with motorcycles it is the oddity not to give the nod or wave. Trying to figure it out it occurs that it might be that it is still considered a risky challenge and those engaged in it still show the appreciation for living on that edge.
Not traveling in a box but rather freely connecting to the world you are moving through.
The motorcycle has taught me the beauty of staying on the edge, appreciating the corners, understanding the frailty of the space between life ,joy, adventure and the fall.
The fall waits for us all. The question is living on the edge, recognzing the risk but riding through it with joy at any speed. The motorcycle is part of my ageless experiment. Whether the Warrior or the Scrambler….such revealing names for the bikes…I ride to keep the edge current, the risk alive, the time precious, the age ageless.
