What is it about a new year that gives us hope? I mean, it is just another day on the flipping of pages on a calendar and yet we pause. We celebrate. We pray. We reflect. We dream. We resolve. We believe.
It is our craving to find a better way. An answer to a question that really has no answer. We want it to work out. We want to be inspired. We want to be more. We want to find the cure. The love. The innocence.
I walked on the beach early this morning. I watched the waves come in. I watched the birds fly, glide, land and take off again. It was a quiet morning. No one was on the beach but me at such an early new years morning. Unlike so many others, I celebrate the first day of the new year as opposed to party on the last night of the passing year. But as I walked I thought about this yearly ritual.
I come to the conclusion that we need this time to recalibrate. We need to stop. Slow down. Question whether we are wisely using our time here or just passing time. We need to change what we swore we would change. We need to find our courage again to be what we thought we were or could still be. We need to seize the new year as if it mattered. Don’t waste it. If nothing else challenge yourself. Find that spark of innocent longing to be you again. Don’t sell out. Have faith in your story. Start writing it again.
The ageless experiment.
