I just learned so much over the last few days. Well, maybe it was more like rediscovering part of myself. I learned to appreciate the things that we usually ignore or , even find annoying. But not over the last few days. You see the grandkids were visiting. Sweet and gentle souls. Excited about the little things that we either take for granted or try to avoid.
There they were excited about taking the trash to the trash chute and listening as we heard it descend the many floors of our temporary home. They found the chore to be an amazing adventure.
Later in the day we went to the elevator. There are 3 of them. The excitement now was betting on which one would come first. Then danced around as if they won the lottery when the one they chose arrived.
Ok. So what does this all mean in the world of the ageless experiment. To me it means that we overlook the magic of the ordinary. We forgot the joy in the simple. We take for granted the wonder of the world we live in as we search for false wonders.
I realized that the magic is all around us but we have become blind to it. So jaded. Or tired. Or seeking things that can never really compete with the simple joy of watching a child dance because they picked the “winning” elevator.
Stop for a moment. The things you ignore…embrace. This is your world that you choose to live in. Make it magical.
