We walked the entire way on the beach. From the chateau to the fishing village of Cancale. It was late afternoon. The tide was out and the beach was wider than we ever expected it to be.
As we got to about the half way point, we stopped to chat about the blessing to be with friends in Brittany, in the beautiful north western region of France, when our eyes caught the sight ,in the distance, of Mont Saint Michel.
And a sight it is. A tidal island off the coast of the Normandy region in France.
A monastery in the middle of the water. Surreal and mystical. Every once in a while you sense that you have stumbled into Paradise. Is Paradise a place or a state of mind. At this moment it was both. The view of the monastery in the water, like a sword in the stone, gives you a sense of knights, damsels in distress, adventure, intrique and imaginaton of things that might be if only we never stopped dreaming.
We got to Cancale and had a charming dinner in a charming spot on the planet.
Simple, majestic, whole.
As we made our way back to the chateau, it hit me.
Simple, majestic, whole. To be complete does not have to be complicated. Majesty is found in the uncomplicated. To think of it, paintings and stories about Paradise never seem to be convoluted and complex. There is a singular beauty in the uncomplicated. The paradox is that the simple contains the complete story. Simplify your life and become whole. Can you create your paradise each step of the journey. An ageless experiment.
