The disease had reached an unbearable point. It was not good for so long but now it was not good and no where else to go but painfully not good. Such a brave soul. Such a strong person. We sat and through the pain pills and the other myriad of drugs we looked at each other and had our last brief conversation.
We both thanked each other for being a friend. For being there. So many thank yous.
Then the inquiry…will we see each other on the other side some day.
And then finally the phrase that has stayed with me ever since…”It was easy being your friend.”
On this journey we can choose to make it easy for each other or not. Choose easy.
You may find that the world looks so very different.
She loved butterflies.
Whenever I see one my mind wanders back to that last phrase.
Make the day easy. All the way through. Easy is not hard to do at all.
You may just find that your day becomes lighter too. Not carrying so much stuff around.
Next time you see a butterfly…if it hasn’t been going well that day, let it go and let easy enter your life.
