The silence

It was 36 years ago when everything changed. We were about two weeks into our month long journey in Nepal and the Himalayas. The yaks were carrying the tents and supplies as the Sherpas guiding us up the mountain trails. It was at Tangboche where I heard the silence for the first time. Yes, heard the silence. There was a presence of feeling whole. Feeling complete. Feeling acceptance. Feeling one with the meaning of why we are here. Being one with the life with the spirit world that the noise of the average day tries to drown out. I felt whole. I felt a part of something more. We are here to be part of the world not conquer it. We are here to be a member of the earth not merely use it. This is our home. It is not mere stuff. It is our story. Our one chance to get it right. And then we are gone and the next travelers may find a way to make it right before it goes all wrong. Just consider this and think what you might do if you simply lived a life connected to real. Not the fabricated.
