The lay of the land. How does one get the lay of the land. You know , the ability to see the scene outstretched before you. The ability to view the landscape to the horizon and then determine the right,best course to take.
In life choices so often no one gets the lay of the land. They only take a snapshot in time,unconnected with the rest of this moving picture that is life with all its moving parts, and on a single snapshot make some major decisions that change everything including the landscape.
Odd indeed. What causes that. Is it that myopic thing again. That narrow vision. Can we not step back, take the long view, get a sense of the turf, the texture of the fabric of life at that moment and then act.
So often the choice is made with such limited vision.
Can we put immediate judgments to the side, keep an open mind and then respond to the challenge.
You see it in the narrow stare of so many. They say they are "focused" but that may be mistaken for narrow thinking and myopic vision.
