The adventure that is our life

We sat on the floor at sunrise at the Buddhist monastery outside of Siem Reap, Cambodia. Four traveling friends and the monk who performed the water blessing over us.
The water blessing…bestows a calm and purifies the body and soul. I felt the water splashing across my face. The monk then dipped the white string in the water and gently tied it around our wrists. We sat in silence as the sun slowly rose in the morning sky.
The string is still on my wrist. The memory of the monk blessing us and welcoming us into this ritual stays with me.
When I look at my wrist I go back to a moment of such completeness in feelings that it awakens something inside that is just good. What has value? What has worth? This moment felt like a further extension of my travels that I write about in Hour of the Wolf. The journey continues. Don’t stop exploring. Don’t stop wondering. Don’t stop trying new experiences. Don’t settle. We are explorers in the adventure of our life.
