Vacation day

Every time I hear her singing, no matter what I am doing, I pause and just take it all in.  But then again, it is Nina Simone. This time the song Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood came on.  Take a moment and get lost in it.

That song is her cry for understanding when things just don’t turn out the way she hoped. Haven’t we been there. We have good intentions, we try our best, but sometimes it just doesn’t play out right.  And as soon as others start to judge, there is this call to just stop for a moment. Can’t we just give ourselves a break? Can’t we let each other off the hook by recognizing  the honest effort?

I don’t recall who said it but  have heard it said that we are perfectly imperfect. I kind of  like that idea. It makes us who we are. Embrace it. With each day there is a liberation in simply being.  So, today, how about appreciating being our unique self. Let’s not be so hard on ourselves. In fact, take a vacation day from that inner critic today.  Enjoy the gift …imperfections and all.

The ageless experiment.

I like it! Instead of Mary Poppin’s ‘practically perfect’ in every way, we’re perfectly imperfect in every way! Even better! Thank you!

Thanks. It is now to ease into a day knowing this.
