The decision had to be made with the best available information at the time. Period. No crystal ball. No wizard to tell anyone how it plays out before the decision is made. The choice. Go or not go on June 6, 1944,weather the way it was or not. A break in the storm or wait many more weeks with the unknown filling in the blanks. Work with what you know or wait for the unknown to materialize.
Everyone pauses. Time stops. The decision will, could, may, did change the history of the war and more.
But at the time, it just comes down to the decision. It always comes down to the joining of the moment and the choice. At that moment, don't you want to be surrounded by people of good intentions, strong character, street smarts and instincts fined tuned by life experiences. People comfortable in their own skin.
It has been said that life only makes sense backwards but we are obligated to live it forwards.
Since that is where we always find ourselves, we need to decide and then let go.
After the choice was made there was Omaha Beach. But the decision was made. No time for second guessing. Without second guessing there was no time for defeat. It wasn't an option. The stars had aligned, destiny had been taped.
Act and then let go. An ageless experiment.
