This began because I wanted our loved ones to know us as people and not just parents, brothers, sisters or some other boxed in definition of an otherwise fully formed person.
I wanted them to know us with all the adventures, misadventures, struggles, travels, laughter, tears and challenges met and overcome. Mountains, climbs, solitude, meditations, wanderings all around the world including internal journeys with the shamans. Shapeshifting, traveling into the darkness, traveling through time to the other side. Going on a journey through the mind's brainwaves and studying a whole part of our story that we never thought would open to us.
It all began at a gate. I started this journal after the sign at the gate triggered something to rebell against definitions and signs that try to control us, box us, crate us and diminish us.
It began at a moment of redefinition. It began at a time when a choice was presented to settle into the routine of the day, the ordinary expected cycle of a life or break out of any superimposed definition or limitation. To realize that we can surprise ourselves any day in so many ways. We must surprise ourselves each day.
It is to some extent an unfolding book and a furtive prayer that we all recognize that no one can light the way for our journey. Only we can light our own way.
There comes a moment in time when we just need to settle into the path we are walking, get comfortable on that path,no matter the potholes along the way.
And so the journey continues.
Consider your own unfolding book. Consider your story. Consider the chapters you want your family to know about so they too will have the courage to risk, jump into the void and seek out the higher peaks.
Live the ageless experiment as a reality.
