February 1: The great thing, among so many things, about children is that they permit us to see things for the first time again. To experience the sights and sounds of the world,to witness the beauty and awe of nature fresh is one of the gifts we receive from children.
A simple blade of grass is amazing through the eyes of a child. A rain drop, a cloud,a stick…putting it on a step and pushing it off a step leading to the front door can be a whole day's adventure.
The simplicity becomes the profound. And maybe that is what it is.
Maybe that is what we need to search for in our travels. The joy of seeing things for the first time. Finding the simplicity in our lives and journey. Looking for the core theme of what our life means on its own terms.
Finding the child in ourselves and permitting that child to live and assist us in the day's journey. What would such a day feel like.
In the Ageless Experiment find the "first" time again in all the things you do.
It was crossing the ice fields of Monte Blanc ..the white mountain…outside of Chamonix, France that I experienced the sheer wonder of the "first" time again of seeing snow, ice, the texture of it and the sun glistening off its surface.
As we made our way from France to Italy across the ice field I reflected on the fields we cross daily and how we would change if we experienced them all with both the wisdom we acquired throughout our journey but also the innocence of a child. What a potent mix. But then again maybe that is how it is to be.
No categories of experiences divided by pages but one ongoing adventure.
Enjoy the day with all of your senses. And at that one moment that an issue seems insurmountable find your child to guide you through it.
Cross the ice fields today with the wonder that is worthy of them.
