January 29: It was at Tangeboche that I finally witnessed the power of silence. Our group had made its way up from Namche to the covered wooden bridge that permitted us to enter the grounds of the Buddhist monastery. As we crossed the bridge we were engulfed in The Silence.
To the left of us was the monastery. To the right was Everest.
All around us the Himalayas stood in all its majesty. Before us was the valley where our tents were being set by the Sherpa guides.
And we were in The Silence. Tangeboche is said to be a powerful energy source. Some believe the earth herself speaks at this sacred spot.
The Silence feels like a warm gentle vibrating coat draped over you. You are at peace and feel at home.
I then wondered whether can we find The Silence in our own lives. Can we locate the peace and calm, the source of energy where we are at any one moment in time. Can we connect to the Tangeboche that lives in us all. At this spot, time stands still. At this spot nonsense does not have a voice. At this spot agelessness lives fully and completely. Can we find the peace inside us to weather the current crisis in our lives. Locate your inner Silence and accept the gift of Tangeboche.
