We sat in a circle. We were asked to light a candle. We did.
We were then given a pad and pencil.
We were sitting on a thin sheet covering a hard wood floor. There was soft music in the background. It was the definition of peaceful.
The incense was filling the air with a sweet aroma.
" Before you blow out the candle that represents your current place in your life's journey, pick up the pad and pencil and take the time to write to that one person you need to."
That one person you need to.
To say thank you? To say I'm sorry? To say I finally understand? To say I tried my best? What exactly to write and to whom. The answer came back: "The one you need to write to."
But it is the last person you can write to. It is the last thought, prayer, wish , hope that expresses who you are and what they meant or what you meant.
We wrote.
And then we put the pad and pencil down and blew out the candle.
The room went dark. The music grew louder. The mediation went deeper.
Time. Don't know what time was then. Don't know how much of time passed. Didn't matter.
The lights slowly came up. The music became softer.
"Light the candle to your new journey."
Release and let go.
There was a liberation in the room. A lightness. A beginning.
Who do you need to write to. What do you need to let go of.
Re-lighting the candle must be done.
It is the razor's edge journey that we all must take.
At any age, there comes a moment to blow out the candle and re-light it.
It is the ultimate escape.
Make it. It is part of the Ageless Experiment.
